Emma Morrison

Emma completed her Masters in Music in bassoon performance under the tutelage of Hugh Ponnuthurai and Lydon Watts at The University of Melbourne. During her five years at the university she was the recipient of numerous awards including the Catherine Grace McWilliam and Gwen Nisbet Music Scholarships. Emma is a regular performer in the Melbourne music scene and is currently Principal Bassoon of the Melbourne Conservatorium Orchestra and was Principal Bassoon of the Melbourne Youth Orchestra from 2014-2016. Emma has performed with the Christchurch Symphony Orchestra as a guest and has particularly loved playing in ballets with the Australian Conservatoire. Emma has presented a recital on 3MBS radio as part of ‘The Talent’ program and over the Summer break she was involved in playing bassoon at the Australian International Symphony Orchestra institute in Tasmania and the National Music Camp as part of the Australian Youth Orchestra in Adelaide.

Emma has appeared as a soloist performing the Mozart Bassoon Concerto in Bb with the Manningham Concert Band and with the Surrey Hills Symphony Orchestra. As a finalist in the Melbourne Youth Orchestras ‘Virtuosity’ Concerto competition she has also performed Weber’s Andante and Hungarian Rondo with the Percy Grainger Youth Orchestra.
